Caltech Supervisors Bringing Minors on Campus
Supervisor Checklist
Prior to bringing a minor on campus all Caltech Supervisors must complete the following:
- Register Minors, one of two ways:
- Sponsored Caltech Program
- All other Minors utilize the Human Resources Volunteer Visitor as Minors.
- Ensure Supervisor completes Mandatory Reporter Training.
- Minors working in Research should ensure safety protocols are followed.

Prohibited Activities for Minors:
The following activities are a sample of prohibited activities. The list is not exhaustive and certain restrictions may apply, check with the appropriate Division or Department to be sure the activity is allowed.
- Operation of Caltech vehicles or heavy equipment
- Work with controlled substances, hazardous materials/equipment or stored energy
- Work with large sums of money
- Entering into any contract on behalf of the Institute
- Any activity considered inappropriate for an employee
Contractors
Contractors working with Programs for Minors must meet requirements in their contracts or Facilities Use Agreement relating to background checks, training, reporting of child abuse and all related matters. For more information, contact Caltech Procurement Services.
